9/4: Discussions and office hours begin this week

9/25: A math worksheet is available for students who would like more practice with some of the math that comes up in this course.

9/28: Midterm 1 will cover the material from lectures 1-7. Here is a list of recommended practice problems, and here is the formula sheet that will be made available with the exam.  You will not be allowed to consult other study material during the exam.

10/8: Our final exam date and time has been announced.  It will be Tuesday, Dec. 19, from 1:30-4:30 pm, in Loomis 144.  

10/9: Problem set 5 has been posted LATE.  It is thus due on Monday Oct. 16 instead of the usual Thurs. Oct 12.

10/11: Midterm 1 scores are in.  Class average was 60/85 (point total) or 70%, with standard deviation 11 points/85.  High score was 78/85, or 92%.  

           Also, Problem set 6 will be posted Monday Oct. 16 and will be due Thursday Oct. 26. It will be 1.5 times as long as a usual homework set.

10/24: Midterm 1 solutions are now here.

11/1: Midterm 2 will cover the material from lectures 8-16. Here is a list of recommended practice problems, and here is the formula sheet that will be made available with the exam.  You will not be allowed to consult other study material during the exam.

11/15: Midterm 2 solutions are here.  The class average was 67/80, or 84%, with standard deviation 8 points/80.  High score was 100%.  

12/11: J. Shelton will not have office hours this week.

12/14: The final is cumulative but will be weighted toward the material since Midterm 2. Here is a list of recommended practice problems, and here is the formula sheet that will be made available with the exam.  You will not be allowed to consult other study material during the exam.  Neither Landau theory nor the Boltzmann transport equation will appear on the final.
