Course Information and Grading Policy

The course structure consists of reading, lectures, and homework. There will also be three exams: two in-class mid-term exams and the final exam.

  • Reading assignments will be given for every lecture mainly from the course text book by Townsend and are listed in the Syllabus for each week. Please try to read before lecture, as you'll get a lot more out of lecture if you already have some idea of  the concepts. The texts and other books are described on the homepage.

  • Lectures are Mon & Wed 2:00 - 3:20 PM in 136 Loomis. Lectures will complement the reading and give you an opportunity to learn about some of the most exciting and relevant aspects of quantum physics today.

  • There will be a homework assignment handed out most weeks, as detailed in the syllabus. The assignments will be due a week after they are handed out. Homework assignments and solutions will be posted on the course Syllabus. Homework is 45% of your grade. Late homework is not accepted.

  • Each mid-term exam will constitute 15% of your gradeThe final exam will be 25% of your grade.
