Description: There is an emerging need to measure RF, and microwave differential circuits, since differential pair is a good approach to achieve a higher noise immunity for signals in a high speed digital design. However, due to a complexity of the RF/Microwave high frequency bands and tight coupling between the differential pairs,measurement and modeling of transmission lines carrying the differential signals causes many challenges. Even when the complexity of the measurement of the whole structure is solved, it is difficult to de-embed the differential line. Typical example of it is the common mode interference between transmission lines due to the asymmetric structure. The goal is to develop a new methodology to characterize the differential line S matrices from the single ended S parameter measurement. The process will require a single-ended 8 port S matrices measurement of two fan-out and a differential line. From the data, matrices of differential pair will be extracted. A four tightly-coupled asymmetric differential line will be used for measurement purpose. EM simulation tools and mat-lab will be used for verification process.
