Format guidelines for Written Homework
Homeworks for CS 173 must meet the following guidelines. They are
intended to help you develop good mathematical style and to allow us to grade
homeworks in a sensible manner. If you don't make a good-faith
attempt to follow them, we reserve the right to
take off lots of points or (in extreme case)
give you a zero for the homework.
- All problems should be stapled together.
- Write your discussion section time (e.g. M12, T10) in
the top righthand corner of the top sheet, nice and big.
- Make sure the following information is clearly visible, and
legible, near the top of the first sheet:
- First line: your name
- Your netid (in case your name is hard to read)
- Homework number and problem number
- Names or netids of people you collaborated with
- Your homework should be neat and legible. The writing should be
dark enough to be easily read. If you can't write legibly or would
like to earn a few bonus points and prepare yourself for
later classes, learn to use a mathematical
formatting package (preferably LaTeX).
We want both your name and netid to provide redundancy when it's hard
to read what you wrote, especially at the start of term when we aren't
familiar with your names or handwriting.
