CS173: Discrete Structures (All Sections)

Fall 2019: Mahesh Viswanathan

Welcome to CS 173, Fall 2019!

These pages may be slightly unstable for the first few days of classes.

Very little appears directly on this page. Announcements are posted on our Piazza site and/or on the Lectures page (see tabs above). Assignments appear on the Homework web page and/or on Moodle. Browse the tabs above to become familiar with the course materials.

Registration: The academic office controls registration to core CS classes to ensure that everyone on campus that has to take these classes, gets to register for them. Therefore, the instructor and the course staff have no power to allow students to register for this class. Any registration related questions should be addressed to the CS academic office.

Lecture Videos: Lecture videos will appear on lecture schedule page, after the lecture. It might take upto 24 hours for the video to appear.

Moodle: Most of you have been automatically enrolled on our moodle site. If that isn't true (e.g. you registered late), use the password given out in lecture to self-enroll. Do not get behind on the work while you wait for moodle to get your official registration information.

Piazza: Please subscribe to the course Piazza page. All discussions and announcements pertaining to the course will be posted on Piazza.

Proficiency Exams: If you are familiar with much of the course content (see the course web pages from previous terms), you may wish to take the CS 173 proficiency exam. This is offered to freshmen during orientation week, and to continuing students in the middle of fall and spring terms (i.e. a couple weeks before registration starts). Have a backup plan in case you don't pass it.

Honors add-on: There will be no honors add-on offering this semester (Fall 2019).
